Morgan’s Revenge is a short game demo to gauge the interest of consumers in an action platformer with rogue-like elements. Our game takes place in world of Ebony. The demoness warlock Freyval has taken over the kingdom of Ebony. In the process she murdered Princess Morgan and her family. Morgan has been raised from the dead as a skeleton, and given magic powers by Grimm, the god of death. Morgan’s goal in her un-life is to defeat Freyval. The first step towards doing that is retaking the Dour Fields. The Dour Fields were originally lush farmlands, but now houses the human forces of Freyval’s army. Leading them is Lancelot, a knight who betrayed the royal family over to Freyval. Lancelot used to be a human, but to save his life Freyval used her magic to merge him with his horse. Resulting in what could be described as a horse with the upper body of a man but still maintaining the head of a horse. Will Morgan succeed in saving the world and getting her revenge? Only time will tell in Morgan’s Revenge.
Morgan's Revenge was my capstone project in 2020. Myself along with my two teammates Timothy Phillips, and Shane Kusmierz began in February of 2020 and completed and presented our capstone project in December of 2020. For a three person group we had a lot of work ahead of us to make a game, but in the end we pulled through. My role for this project was as the lead artist. I was in charge of creating not only mood boards for characters, but their concept sketches, environmental pieces, frame by frame animations, UI, HUD, and anything artistic. This entire project was my first time ever doing pixel art, so I am very happy with the final result, as it was a long process from start to finish as the only artist on my team.
The character shown here is our Soldier, one of our games grunt enemies. Shown here is his base image, his sprite sheet, gifs, and concept process.
